However, Fanhow is run by you! If you want to help us manage the community, you'll need reputation first. Reputation is a rough measurement of how much the Fanhow community trusts you, so you can earn reputation for your answers and questions convinced by others, instead of the number of questions you’ve answered

Here’s the rule for reward reputation. Your answer is accepted by the asker, you gain 15 points and of course, you will get addional reputations if the asker offer a bounty for that question. Choose the best answer for you question, you earn 2 points. Some one votes up your question or answer, then you get 10 points, but if it is voted down, you lose 2 points.Vote down a question or answer, you lose 1 point, and if your your question or answer is voted down by others, you lose 2 points.

When you have enough reputation points, you will get more:

100 Vote down (costs 1 rep), edit community wiki posts
1000 Edit other people's posts

What if I don't get a good answer?

In order to get good answers, you can edit your question to provide more detailed information, improve the title and category. This will naturally bump your question and get more people interested in it.

If, after 2 days, there is still not an answer you like, you can offer a bounty, which will cost a bit of your own reputation -- anywhere from 50 to 500. The bountied question will appear with a special icon in all question lists, and there is also a particular page for bountied questions.

The bounty period lasts 7 days. Once you accept an answer, your bounty is awarded to the answerer, but remember that accepted bounty answers are permanent and cannot be changed. If you do not accept an answer in 7 days, The highest voted answer will be automatically accepted, and half the bounty will be awarded to the owner of that answer. In any case, you will always give up the amount of reputation specified in the bounty, so if you start a bounty, be sure to follow up and accept the best answer!

Of course, bounty awards is not limited to the daily 200 reputation cap.

Other people can edit my posts?!

Yes. In order to provide more excellent and more amazing answer, Fanhow is collaboratively edited mode. But if you are not comfortable with the idea of your questions and answers being edited by others, don’t chest the Wiki community option when you post the content.
