how can I put some MKV videos to my iPad?

sponsored ads

I know I can watch .mkv files on the VLC Media player, however I was hoping to get the MKV file on my iPad so I can watch it anywhere. iPad doesn't support .mkv playback, so I assume I have to convert MKV to iPad MP4 or a similar format. Is there a solution come up with Mac? Thanks.

Luckily,I recommended you a MKV to iPad video converter that I have used for a certain time. I download the freetrial and found it's very easy to use, and can convert MKV or HD MKV to ipad or MP4, or other formats like AVI, PS3, VOB, FLV etc. Then I bought it without any hesitating. Okay, It called iFunia MKV Converter. On the course I collated some of the following simple practical steps, hope to help you.

Step 1. Add MKV video files to the program
First run iFunia MKV Converter for Mac and click the big button "Add..." to add MKV or HD MKV video files, this software allows to add as many videos as you want for MKV to iPad batch conversion.

Step 2. Set the output format as iPad MP4 and other settings
Select iPad MP4 output format for each video file and specify a directory on your computer to save the output files. You can change the output settings as you need. Remember that the output file size mostly depends on the Bitrate you set. Larger Bitrate, larger file size. Actually the default profile given is configured with good quality output.

Step 3. Start converting MKV to iPad MP4 video
Now just click the big button "Start" to begin converting MKV to iPad video. The convert progress bar shows how much of the encoding is completed. The encoding time will depend on several variables including: the duration of the video file, the speed of your computer, what other activity your computer is currently doing and the bitrate you set.

Notes:
1. The program allows you merge some separate MKV videos to 1 single file. If you want to output 1 MP4 file for easily playing on iPad, simply click on the video titles you'd like to merge, then click 'Merge' button and uncheck the former separate files if you just need the single merged video file. You may see the image below to have an idea.
2. It can edit videos, crop, trim videos and add watermark and special effects.
3. If you wanna convert HD videos to iPad 720p H.264 HD video or AVCHD M2TS MTS to iPad, I suggest you use their iPad video converter  to make it.

If you are referring to the MUO Best of iPad Apps this is not an actual App to install but a list of iPad apps available on the official iTunes App Store to download.

If you like one of those Apps you have to click the download link which will take you directly into the App store. If you want all of them you unfortunately have to download them one by one.

1,transform several MKV files into one single video file;
2,create a video file of any format from a few MKV source files;
3,change video and audio codecs when combining videos;
4,resize source files before combining;
5,adjust the video quality and sound volume for combined video. Answered Apr, 12 2011

1. Download the Mac or Windows version of the FFmpeg program (see the links in Resources). Double-click on the icon of the FFmpeg program once it has downloaded. Follow the command prompts to install the program onto the computer's hard drive.
2. Double-click on the icon of the FFmpeg program to launch it. Follow the command prompts to install a series of libraries into the computer's operating system. Restart the computer after the installation is completed.
3. Double-click on the FFmpeg program's icon to launch it. Click on the "Summary" tab at the top of the FFmpeg program's main screen. Drag the MKV video file into the "From" column at the left side of the FFmpeg program's main screen.
4. Click on the arrow in the column next to "To," which is to the right of the "From" column. Select one of the iPod-compatible formats from the drop-down menu: MP4/mpeg-4 for basic compatibility, h.264 320w/widescreen for low resolution compatibility or h.264 640w/widescreen for high resolution compatibility. Release the drop-down menu.
5. Click on the "Save As" button at the left top of the FFmpeg program's main screen. Navigate to the desktop in the window that appears. Click the window's "OK" button to close it.
6. Click on the "Options" tab at the top of the FFmpeg program's main screen. Select "iPod" from the drop-down menu below the "Encoding Profile" column. Click the "Encode" button at the bottom of the screen.
7. Wait as the FFmpeg program converts the MKV video file into an iPod-compatible video file. Quit the FFmpeg program once the iPod-compatible video file has been saved to the computer's desktop. Answered Apr, 24 2011
