1.Press the "Home" softkey and press "Main."

2.Tap the "Email" menu and then choose "Next" to launch the email setup wizard.

3.Tap the device information field and enter your Sprint wireless phone number in the field. Tap "Done" after entering the number or if the field is already filled in.

4.Select "More" to configure your AKO mail account using Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) on your Instinct.

5.Tap "I Agree" after reviewing software license agreements and disclaimers regarding email use on your Instinct.

6.Enter your AKO username and password using the onscreen keyboard.

7.Enter your AKO email server information. Type "imap.us.army.mil" in the Incoming Server field and "mailrouter.us.army.mil" in the Outgoing Server field. Enter "993" as the incoming port and "465" as the outgoing port, with secure sockets layers (SSL) connections enabled for both.

8.Touch "Done" on the screen after entering your account information.

Launch your Microsoft Outlook application. Click on the "Tools" menu in the upper menu bar at the top of your Outlook window. Select "Account Settings" in the Tools menu. Click on the "New" button on the "Mail" tab to add a new account to your Outlook profile.

Click on the radio button next to "Microsoft Exchange and POP 3 mail," and then click on the "Next" button. Click on the check box next to "Manually Configure Server Settings," and click on the "Next" button. Select "Internet Email" in the drop-down menu when prompted to select the email type, and click on "Next."

Locate the entry field labeled "Your Name," and enter your name as you want it to display on your outgoing email. Enter your AKO email address in the "Email Address" entry field.

Select "IMAP" in the drop-down menu for the account type. List your incoming mail server as "imap.us.army.mil" and your outgoing mail server as "mailrouter.us.army.mil" (both without the quotation marks). Enter your login information for your AKO email account in the user name and password fields. Click on the check box next to "Remember Password" to avoid having to enter your password every time you access your email.

Click on "More Settings," and click on the tab labeled "Outgoing Server" to specify your server settings. Check the box to specify that your outgoing server requires authentication. Select the radio button to use the same settings as your incoming server.

Click on the "Advanced" tab in the "More Settings" dialog box. Set the encryption connection to "SSL" for both the incoming and outgoing servers. Set your "Incoming Server port" to "993" in the entry box. Change the "SMTP port" to "465." Click on "OK" to save the settings.
