If you are you copy the iPhoto Library folder from you're old Mac to the new one iPhoto 08 should ask you where your Library is. Then you would navigate to the Pictures folder and select the copied iPhoto Library.

If they're on the same machine, it really should have upgraded the old library for you. You should try deleting iPhoto 08's lirbrary (make sure it isn't the old one with all you're photos), and following the same instructions as above to connect your iPhoto 08 to the 05 library. No, if you have deleted a Facebook photo album and the pictures are not saved to your computer, you will have to upload again.

* 1

Locate your iPhoto Library by clicking on your "Home" folder on your Mac's hard drive. Alternately, select "Go" from the Apple menu, then scroll down to "Home" and double-click on the "Pictures" folder. Locate the iPhoto library package. The icon looks like a stack of photos.
* 2

Copy the iPhoto library package to a CD or DVD by dragging the icon to the blank media. From the "Finder" menu, select "Burn Items to Disc." The disc will eject when it has been burned. Alternatively, connect an external hard drive to your Mac and drag the iPhoto library icon to the external drive to copy it.
* 3

Insert the CD, DVD or external hard drive with the copy of the iPhoto library you wish to move to a new computer.
* 4

Double click on the iPhoto icon or application while holding down the "Option" key until you are prompted to choose the iPhoto library. Click "Choose Library." Choose the library you just transferred in "Step 3" to open the iPhoto library. It will be placed into your user's "Picture" folder on the computer.

 1. Close iPhoto 4

2. Erase the contents of the iPhoto Library in the new user folder.

3. Erase ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphoto.list on the G4. ~ = your home folder.

4. Transfer the contents of the G3 library to the correct library folder on the G4.

5. Check that the file permissions on your new copy of the library are compatible with the new user. Can you navigate through the database structure in Finder OK?

6. Restart iPhoto 4. I think that iPhoto 4 knows that it is dealing with an iPhoto 2 library, and converts it to the new standard at startup.
