If you occasionally want to choose which files to download, or where to download them to, you can use Ctrl+O,or File>Open Torrent, to bring up the Open Torrent dialog.

If you want this for every torrent from now on, disable "Automatically download to default directory" under Tools>Options>Files Answered Aug, 07 2011

Go to preferences and check the option that says something about prompting you before download or something like that, just look around.I would uninstall Vuze and download utorrent, it is much faster. Answered Apr, 23 2011

Set the download directory for the external drive.

The setting is at Tools>Options>Files at the top

set the "default directory" to the external.

You then also have the option to see a prompt (which allows you to choose files in the torrent and select a different download directory if you want) or to have it automatically start the download to the default directory without a prompt. This option is right below the default directory. Answered Aug, 10 2011
