How to check if hard drive clicking sound is normal

sponsored ads

In other words, how loud should this clicking sound be so that it indicates that there is something wrong, I read somewhere that it is normal for hard disks to make these sounds when reading/writing. What if it is a constant clicking every few seconds? Asked Aug, 10 2011

Depends on how loud the clicks are, this either sounds like the hard drive is about to die just in case it does. That or clean up temporary files using ccleaner and then defrag your hard drive. As it sounds like you have too much stuff on your hard drive and you need to clean up by getting rid of software or temporary files. Answered Aug, 10 2011

Hello, when you say normal laptop, are you refering to a windows based laptop?  As long as the external harddrive is compatible with Mac, any would do as long as it is formatted with FAT32.  With FAT32 you can used it with windows, mac and your TV.

No this is not possible and the only history that goes in it is what you download. If you want to view your hard drive click on the vista start icon and go on computer, it is usually named C,D,E ect. Answered Jul, 29 2011

did you tried to delete the volume 1. Right-click on computer and select “Manage” 2. Select “Disk Management” 3. Right-click on your drive and select “Delete Volume” 4. Wait for volume to delete, then right-click on USB and select “New Simple Volume”
