Its not possible to hide it. but the owner will not know until he opens the router page http://192.168.1.1 or if he is using NIS 2008 which has a network monitor tool. Answered Mar, 11 2011

Make sure you have a wireless card installed in your laptop; preferably 802.11a/g/n. Most, but not all, already have one installed. You'll see a little computer icon in the tray in the lower left hand corner of your screen indicationg whether you've picked up the cafe's signal or not. You can also click on it and choose other signals that are in range. Now security is another issue Answered Aug, 09 2011

Easiest way to fix it is to set them both up on the same HomeGroup.
