Visual Basic 6.0 runtime files are 32-bit.  32-bit VB6 applications and components are supported in the WOW emulation environment only.  32-bit components must also be hosted in 32-bit application processes.

All you need to do is to install the latest DirectX Redist. Microsoft does not bundle the updated D3DX9 dlls with any versions of Windows. MPC-HC uses d3dx9_41.dll or later for faster shader operations since Microsoft has optimised the shader compilers.

You should be able to install most 32 bit programs on a 64 bit machine without doing anything. The only ones that aren’t usually compatible are programs that deal with system files, such as antiviruses.
