First you duplicate and drag your object and keep it for the next step of applying the emboss eeffect.
use the Interactive shadow tool (check out the toolbars on the left side), remove the fill color of the object instead put an outline with the thickness that you want for your shadows.
click and drag the shadow into the original object ( see my illustration, hope it helps).
ungroup or break apart the shadow from the outline. you can delete the outline object once you have break apart from the shadow.
then, using the POWERCLIP command, click the shadow and put it inside the 2nd object
color your object following the base object or background to see the effect... and thats it! Answered Jan, 20 2011

When you emboss text, PowerPoint changes the text color to the background color to enhance the embossed effect. As a result, the text appears to sink into the background. Embossed text is difficult to read in smaller font sizes. This effect is best reserved for large titles. Also, embossed text is nearly invisible with some color schemes. You may have to fiddle with the color scheme or switch templates in order to make the embossed text visible. To apply the embossed effect to text, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Dialog Launcher button at the bottom-right corner of the Font group in the Home tab and open the Font dialog box.

  2. Select the Emboss option and click OK.
