Select the BLACK selection arrow, and then click anywhere on the text box, after that go to the "Transform" palette and put in an angle you want to rotate it.

how to rotate canvas in illustrator cs5?

You dont have this option in illustrator like photoshop but try this:

First go to file>Document setup here you get a options for page properties

There you have a two icons for Potrait & Landscape you select what you want, click ok now you see your artboard changed then

Unlock all layers, select all object(ctrl+A) (dont group after selct all) & hold SHIFT key now rotate the whole object or you can also use

Right click > Transform > Rotate, give the value.
