Because Real media files are closed source you are pretty much screwed when it comes to playing videos with subtitles on something other than real player with the correct working plugins, and that isn't worth the hassle most of the time, but I do have a solution that could very possibly work.

If you have VLC Open it up, if you don't download it/install/Open it
Try the steps below:
1. Click Media, at the top left of the window.
2. Choose 'Streaming'.
3. 'Add' your .rmvb video file.
4. Check the 'Use Subtitles' box.
5. Add the .Srt file
6. In the tiny little button to the left of the 'Stream' button at the bottom, there is the option to Play(or Alt+P after previous steps) Click that.
7. If you are lucky and the video you have is one of the few that works on something other than Real Player, your video should come up and you should see your subtitles at the bottom. Answered Jun, 18 2011
