Uninstalling ProtectTools Security Manager requires that the other ProtectTools components be uninstalled first.

How to uninstall:
1) If using Drive Encryption, decrypt the drive first.

2) If using Personal Secure Drives, copy the files out of the PSD to another location on the hard drive, thereby decrypting the files.

3) If the TPM chip is enabled, be sure that you have the recovery files. The TPM is not impacted by removing the software. But if you reset the TPM and still have encrypted data in the PSD, then you will need the recovery keys when re-initializing the TPM.

4) Uninstall the ProtectTools security components ensuring that ProtectTools Security Manager is uninstalled last. Answered Dec, 19 2010

As HP ProtectTools have close connecting with your computer, It can’t be disable it in a normal way. You can download a tool to disable it.Or You can try disabling the service "hpqwmiex" which is a process associated with HP ProtectTools security manager.
Open the "Services" window
Then scroll down to find "hpqwmiex" (without quote marks) .
Right click on hpqwmiex and select "Properties"
The "hpqwmiex Properties" window opens to the "General" tab
Click the "Stop" button to halt the service
Once the process stops, click the "Startup type" drop list button (little down arrow) and select "Disabled" .Then click the "OK" button
Then you can disable HP ProtectTools easily. Answered Dec, 25 2010

Click Turn On BitLocker. This opens the BitLocker setup wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Answered Apr, 13 2011
