how to set a default zoom in chrome

You can zoom by using the Page menu -> Zoom, or by using keyboard shortcuts Ctrl ++ to zoom in and Ctrl+ - to zoom out.

Rt Click on the GEAR (top-right corner),
click on/check/enable Status Bar.
Now @ the bottom-right corner of the browser window you will see, initially, 100% w/ a + to its left & a scroll arrow to its right. Hitting the + will increase the Zoom Level OR the desired level can be selected via the scroll arrow (menu).
Having made your choice, opening a new site/tab will be @ that same level.. I trust this helps you. Answered Jul, 02 2011

1. For new workbooks' view type, take a look at the help topic "Change the default view".
2.You can customize further, including setting a default zoom for new Work books, by customizing and saving a new blank workbook, naming it "Workbook" (no quotes, no extension) and storing it in your Start up folder (which by default is though you can change it in the Preferences/General dialog's Alternate Start up Folder input box).
