Here are the instructions:

1 Make the guides visible by going to "View" and selecting "Show Guides." This will allow you to see a layout grid.

2 Click and drag the "InDesign Type" tool to create a frame for your text. If you plan to change the shape of the border, you can select the Rectangle tool instead. You'll see other shape options if you hold down the mouse over this tool.

3 Use the "Selection" tool to click on the corners of the frame to adjust its size.

4 Select a line (or no line if you want no border to show when printed) from the InDesign control palette located at the top to change the thickness of the border while the frame is still highlighted.

5 Choose a color by clicking on the "Stroke" box located at the top of the "Swatches" palette and then select your color. Answered Jan, 04 2011

    Open an Adobe InDesign document. Display the TOOLS box from the Window menu.

    Activate the PEN TOOL in the Tools box.

    Click and release the mouse button repeatedly to draw a line in the shape of an arc.

    Press and hold the SHIFT and T keys on the keyboard. This action will activate the TYPE ON A PATH TOOL option.

    Click the left end of the arc to begin typing HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY. As you type, the text will follow the path along the arc that you created.

    Click the SELECTION TOOL from the Tools box.

    Right-click the mouse button to select the arc and display a shortcut menu.

    Select STROKE WEIGHT from the shortcut menu. Select 0 PT from the sub-menu. This action will remove the line border.
