1. I suggest you save the grid picture as a gif or png. Both of these picture formats can store "transparent" areas. Cut out the squares from your grid image and superimpose it over your jpg.
2. Create a square from lines or rectangle tools. Change the inside color to transparent. Perform repeated copies in order to obtain a grid, superimpose your jpg picture.
Note: If you don't have any (paint) tools, you could download either "PhotoFiltre" or "Gimp" in order to perform the described manipulation. Both programs are freeware (at least at the time I last downloaded them). Answered Apr, 08 2011
