If you want to Type Prefix and Suffix characters in Microsoft Word, you can do as bellow:
1. Select the text you want to make a superscript.
2. Press CTRL/SHIFT/=
To make it normal text again, repeat the process.
To make a subscript, press CTRL/= instead.

First go to the HOME tab on the ribbon, look straight up and you’ll see the "paragraph" group.In the top row, the first button is the "bullet list". Click the down arrow to get the one you want. Answered Feb, 05 2011

Here it goes:
Change your font to Symbol. The pi symbol is the letter P. The capital pi (i.e., you type "P") is the one that looks like two capital I's. To get the characteristic curvy one, type a lowercase p.
