How to Create an Auto Reply Message in Microsoft Outlook

  2. Select Actions-> New Mail Message Using-> Plain Text to configure.

  3. Fill out the body of the email message that you want your recipients to see when they get this email in reply.

  4. Select office-> Save As, and click the arrow in the Save As Type box. Choose Outlook Template and enter the name of your file in the File Name box. Click Save. Remember the name and location of the file you have just saved.

  5. Choose the Tools-> Rules and Alerts.

  6. This will again bring up the Rules and Alerts dialog box, with several selection options. Find and select the New Rule option.

  7. Select the Check Messages When They Arrive option, and click Next to go to the next step in the process.

  8. Read the selection of choices carefully in the section. Select one or as many that fit your needs.

  9. Check Reply Using a Specific Template. Search for and select A Specific Template option. It'll bring up a dialog box to configure the option.

  10. Select the User Template in File System. This will be located in the Look In area. Highlight the file and choose Open.

  11. Examine any other options on the Rules Wizard screen and click Next.

Tips

  • Your computer must remain on, and Office 2007 must be left running.
