How to Crop AVI Video Files

When watching a movie, most of us hate the black bars on the top and bottom of picture or don't want to display subtitles. To get rid of the annoyances, we can crop them off the video. Follow the solution below to crop avi video file.

Solution

  1. Download VirtualDub and extract the package.
  2. Run VirtualDub by double clicking on the .exe file in the folder.

  3. Go to File > Open video file...  and browse the location to import the avi file you'd like to crop. Click Open.

  4. Click Video and choose Filters... from the dropdown menu. A dialog pops up, and click on the Add button.

  5. Select the Resize command in the filters list. Click OK.

  6. The Resize window appears. Accept the default settings and click OK.

  7. Click  the Cropping... button to start the avi video.

  8. Adjust the offset values to select the area you want to keep and crop everything outside it. Click OK.

  9. Go to File > Save as AVI... Choose a folder to save the output file.
