  1. Click Start orb, launch "gpedit.msc" in Windows 7 search field.

  2. Navigate to "User Configuration ->Administrative Templates -> System -> Ctrl+Alt+Del Options".
  3. You will see 4 settings under this branch, they are "Remove Change Password", "Remove Lock Computer", "Remove Task Manager" and "Remove Logoff". Enable your desired policies to remove corresponding options.

  4. For example, if you want to remove Task Manager from Ctrl+Alt+Del Options, please double click "Remove Task Manager" item, and then set the policy status to "Enabled".

  5. To restore the configurations, please set the corresponding policies status to "Disabled" or "Not Configured".

Tips

  • Local Group Policy Editor and the Resultant Set of Policy snap-in are available in Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, and Windows 7 Enterprise. If you are using other editions like Windows 7 Home Premium, you may need to deploy other utilities to achieve the goal.

In Windows 7, when you press CTRL+ ALT+ DEL buttons, you are presented with lots of options like Lock Computer, Switch user, Change password, Log off and also Start task manager. These are default settings and there is not direct interface to disable or enable these options although you can actually do these using Windows 7 registry. But you can also easily make it done using a software named Tweak CTRL + ALT + DEL.
