One day I find my IE icon is disappeared from the desktop, may be I carelessly delete it, how to display IE icon on desktop?
Solution
- Windows XP SP2 or before :
- Right Click in the desktop, select properties. In the Desktop tab, select Customize Desktop...
- Select the Internet Explorer, and click OK to save.
- The IE icon display on desktop.
- Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista
- Open a notepad, copy the following:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
- Save the file as Display IE.reg, the type is All Files.
- Double click the Display IE.reg import to the registry.
- Refresh your Windows desktop by pressing F5 or right click on desktop and click “Refresh”.
- Now the IE icon is display on desktop.
