How to Enable or Disable Recent Items in Windows 7

In previous versions of Windows ,Recent Items showed a list of your recently used files on the right side of the Start menu .You could open a file from this list by clicking it ,so this is a useful shortcut measure ,especially to which you often used .But in Windows 7 ,Recent Items no longer appears on the Start menu by default .If you want it to be appearing ,you can do the following steps.

Solution

  1. Right-click the Start button and select the [Properties] from the jump list .Image:Snap52.jpg
  2. Then there will open a dialog ,switch to the [Start menu] tab ,in the [Privacy] ,pitch on the [Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu] check box and the [Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar] check box.

  3. Then Click the button [Customize] to open a dialog ,in here ,you should find the [Recent Items] check box and pitch on it.Image:Snap54.jpg
  4. Then click the button [OK] to close the dialog and back to the last dialog ,continue click the button [OK] to close the dialog.And then you will find the [Recent Items] has appeared in the Start menu (see the snap below) .If you want to Disable the Recent Items in Windows 7 ,you should clear the [Recent Items] check box.Image:Snap551.jpg
