How to Fix Windows Update Error 0x80072ee2
I'm using Windows 7, a few days ago I was infected with the rootkit TDSS which resulted in redirects in all web browsers to affiliate sites. After recovering from the attack, my Windows Update does work at all, it displays "Error 0x80072ee2". How's that? Please help me fix the Windows Update problems.
Solution
- Launch your Internet Explorer, and select "Tools" -> "Internet Options".
- Switch to "Connections" tab, make sure you have configured proxy settings properly.
(You can contact your ISP for detailed information)
- Click Start Orb, type "cmd" in search box, right click "cmd" in "Programs" and select "Run as administrator".
- Enter "netsh", then "winhttp" in the command line.
- Enter the command "import proxy source=ie". This will import the proxy settings of Internet Explorer.
- Restart you computer and you have fixed Windows Update Error 0x80072ee2 in Windows 7.
