Fix the Error Code 80071A91 on Windows Update

80071A91 erron is a common error in Windows Update which are often followed with Error Code 80070643.


I have just run into update error 80071A91 recently. In my case, I installed Microsoft Fix it 50123 and then got all the updates successful. You could have a try.

Microsoft Fix it 50123 will fix MSI software update registration corruption issues.


Downoad and launch MicrosoftFixit50123.msi directly. After install it, check and install updates again.

SIMPLE and easy steps to REPAIR the error code 80071A91 and the six or seven other error codes to include the KB2647753 update! If you are here reading this, then you know the error codes I am referring too when you attempt to complete your window updates… over… and over… again. Or when your computer keeps wanting to update and at shut down it will only get to about 35% and then it tells you it is reverting back to a previous version. So frustrating! Just a quick breakdown on my frustrating endeavor to repair it on my Toshiba with Windows 7 x64 Premium Home…. I’ve personally spent days on and off trying to search the internet for the solution and unfortunately, I wasted a lot of time trying all of these long solutions and NONE of them worked. Of course, I came across many “repairs” offered by companies wanting money to resolve this matter and that wasn’t an option! Even Microsoft “Fixit” didn’t work, nor did they have a clear and workable solution on their website either. In my last attempt before giving up for good… I came across the simplest fix on a forum and IT WORKED!

Go to your Start button and click Computer Go to your hard disk drive “C” and right click on it Go down to Properties and click on it When the box opens up click on Tools Go to Error-Checking and click the Check Now (My computer gave me two options but only one worked) When the next box opens up- Check the Automatically fix file system errors and click start Another box will open up stating- Windows can’t check the files while in use and do you want to check for errors during the next start up. Click the Schedule Disk Check

Now Restart your computer and the first thing you will see is that it actually goes to 100% updated! Now go to your Windows Update area and click updates. I had “51” updates! It took a while for the updates to finish, but it worked! My computer is now functioning properly with ALL MY UPDATES current! Hope you find this solution helpful and easy!
