How to Hide System Tray icons Permanently in Windows 7 By regedit

If you have many system tray icons and you didn't like it, then you can remove it. If you would like to disable them permanently and not show any system tray icons at all you’ll need to change some things in the Windows Registry. Please follow my steps.

Solution

  1. Click on Start, type regedit into Search-bar of Start Menu and press Enter.

  2. Now you have your registry editor opened and you should find the Explorer key by going to following directory:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

  3. Now right click in the window on the right, click on new DWORD (32-bit) Value and name the new Value NoTrayItemsDisplay.

  4. Double click on the NoTrayItemsDisplay Value and assign a Value data of 1 to the Value. Click on OK and you're done.

    After rebooting your computer, your system tray should be icon free.
