You bought your favourite Blu-ray movies. However you are using Linux system and it's a little tough to play Blu-ray movie in Linux. So how to achieve the goal of playing HD DVD and Blu-ray movie in Ubuntu?
Solution
It's possible to play Blu-Ray films under Ubuntu 8.10 or later version.
- Download and install the following supporting softwares.
- Xbox 360 HD-DVD player (as the HD DVD drive, please log into Gnome and then plug in the player).
- Upgrade to UDF 2.5 file system driver.
- MPlayer.
- FFMPEG.
- DumpHD (Decrypt Blu-ray disc if necessary).
- Sun-java6-bin package.
- Search for keydb.cfg file, which contains the decryption keys required to your film. You can find Blu-ray keys here.
- Insert an Blu-ray movie disc into your Blu-ray drive. The disc contents should appear on the Gnome desktop.
- Run DumpHD to decrypt the Blu-ray disc. Ensure you have a large amount of disk space available:

Select the Blu-ray disc source (It is a directory beneath /media/Film Name and a directory like /tmp to save movie contents. You could enter next step once FEATURE_1.EVO has started decrypting.
- Now is to play Blu-ray movie from hard drive. Specify the video codec to use:
mplayer -vc ffvc1 "/tmp/King Kong/HVDVD_TS/FEATURE*EVO"
Now, you could enjoy Blu-ray Movie in Linux system.
