I'm using Windows Vista Home Basic, which is bundled with my laptop. I've heard Windows Vista has a function that let users restore the previous versions of files and folders, which is called "Volume Shadow Copy". So, can I use Volume Shadow Copy in Vista Home Basic for my computer?

"Volume Shadow Copy" function is only available in some editions of Windows Vista, unfortunately, Home Basic is excluded. But you can enable this function with a tiny tool.

Turn on protection on each partitions in Windows Vista.
Visit HERE to download Shadow Explorer, which will help you use Volume Shadow Copy in Vista Home Basic for free.
Install and launch the program, you can select the partition and modified time in section 1, the desired folder in section 2.
Files and folders in the directory will be listed in the right pane, you can right click the item you want to restore or roll back, and select "Export".
Locate the path you want to save the previous version of file or folder, press OK.
Now you have used Volume Shadow Copy in Vista Home Basic successfully.
